When to Visit the Emergency Department

Visit Hatemi Hospital’s Emergency Department for serious, urgent, or life-threatening medical conditions, including mental health emergencies.

Our Emergency Department is equipped to provide immediate and specialized care for conditions such as:

  • Major injuries from accidents or falls
  • Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
  • Intense chest or abdominal pain or pressure
  • Stroke symptoms such as sudden weakness, facial drooping, or slurred speech
  • Sudden loss of consciousness or responsiveness
  • Severe bleeding that does not stop
Your loved one may need emergency mental health care if they are:
  • At risk of or are threatening to seriously harm themselves or others. You can also access crisis intervention and suicide prevention services.
  • TSeeing or hearing things.
  • Believing things that are not true.
  • Unable to care for themselves such as not eating, sleeping, bathing, getting out of bed or dressing.
  • Still having trouble with symptoms even after they tried treatment with therapy, medication and support.
