Dr. Vikas Tomar is an orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in diagnosing musculoskeletal disorders at the microscopic level. He is currently the director of the Clinical Cancer Genomics Laboratory at a leading cancer center in India, which analyzes cancerous tissues to determine targeted treatments for individual patients.
In his research laboratory, Dr. Tomar studies tumors that arise from bone and cartilage cells. He also explores how bone lesions form and what makes some lesions cancerous, with the goal of developing objective algorithms to assess tumor growth and tailor treatment to individual patients.
Dr. Tomar earned his medical degree (MBBS) and doctorate degree (MD/MS) in medical sciences from Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, Germany. He then completed a residency in orthopaedics at the University of Würzburg, Germany. He also completed a fellowship in orthopaedics and a post-doctoral fellowship at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai.
Dr. Tomar has held several leadership positions, including heading the Department of Orthopaedics at prominent Indian hospitals, and continues to contribute to advancing orthopaedic research and patient care in India.
